The administrative object directory allows you to create and manage administrative objects and allows you to access portal utilities. It displays the subfolders and objects that are stored in the folder you are viewing. Depending on your security access to folders and the portal activities to which you have access, you might be able to perform the following actions on this page:
To search the administrative object directory, specify your criteria in the Object Search boxes:
If you want to limit your search to a particular type of object (for example, crawler, portlet, or user), in the first drop-down list, select the object type.
If you want to limit the folders to search, in the second drop-down list, choose whether to search all administrative folders, only the folder you are currently viewing, or the folder you are viewing plus its subfolders.
In the text box, type the text you want to search
for and click .
You can perform the following actions to view administrative objects:
If you are viewing a subfolder, you can navigate
up to the parent folder by clicking Up, or by
clicking the parent folder name in folder path under Object Search.
To display the contents of a folder, click the folder name.
To view all objects of a particular type stored in the folder, click the object type (for example, crawler, portlet, or user). To hide these objects, click the object type again.
To expand all the object types so you can view
all objects stored in this folder, click .
To toggle the order in which objects are sorted,
click Name. The icon to the right
of Name signifies the current
alphabetical sort order: ascending () or descending (
).
By default, only the first 50 objects display. To view the next 50 objects, click Next >>, or to view another set of 50 objects, click a number range.
You can only create objects for which you have activity rights. For more information on setting activity rights for different utilities, see Activity Rights.
If you are not inside an administrative folder, your only choice in the Create Object drop-down list is Administrative Folder. To create other administrative objects, open an administrative folder and, from the Create Object drop-down list, select the type of object you want to create.
If you do not have an administrative folder, you can create one by doing the following:
From the Create Object drop-down list, select Administrative Folder.
In the Create Administration Folder dialog box, type the administrative folder name and description.
Click OK.
While in an administrative folder, you can create the following objects:
The buttons to the right of the Create Object and Select Utility drop-down lists allow you to perform the following actions on existing administrative objects if you have the appropriate activity rights. To learn more about setting activity rights, see Activity Rights.
