General Information Portlet Configuration

User profile portlets display information about users. The values for properties in the user profile are either manually entered by the user on the Edit User Profile page or automatically populated by a profile Web Service. For more information on user profiles and user profile portlets, see About User Profiles.

Use this page to specify which properties to display to end users. Properties can be organized by categories. For more information about properties and categories, see About User Profiles.

• To add a new category, click New Category. In the New Category dialog box, type a name and description, then click Finish.

• To add a new property to a category:

1. Under the category, click Add Property.

2. In the Add Properties dialog box, select the properties you want to add.

3. Click OK.

Note: You cannot create two of the same properties in the same page, even if you create two categories.

• To change a category name or description:

1. Click Rename Categories.

2. In the Rename Categories dialog box, click the category you want to rename.

3. Type a name and a description.

4. Click Finish.

5. When you are done renaming all the categories, click Close.

• To arrange the order of properties and categories (for categories, click Manage Categories first), click:
• To move the selection to the top of the list, click .
• To move the selection up, click .
• To move the selection down, click .
• To move the selection to the bottom of the list, click .

• To remove a property or a category (for categories, click Manage Categories first), select the properties or categories you want to delete and click .

• To localize a category name and description:

1. Click Rename Categories.

2. In the Rename Categories dialog box, select the category you want to localize.

3. In the Names and Descriptions dialog box:

1. In the Primary Language drop-down list, select the default language for users. The primary language sets the default language, so users whose locale settings are outside of the supported languages will see the name and description in the primary language you have selected.

2. Select Supports Localized Names.

3. Click New Localized Name.

4. In the Localized Name and Description dialog box, select a language, type the name and a short description, and click Finish.

5. Click Finish.

4. When you are done localizing all the categories, click Close.

• To display the page associated with this help:

1. Click Administration.
2. Open the Portlet Editor:
• To create a new user profile portlet:
1. Open an administrative folder.
2. In the Create Object menu, click Portlet.
3. In the Choose Template or Web Service dialog box, select Web Service for General Information Portlet and click OK.

Note: You can also create a new portlet from within some other object editors by clicking New Portlet.

• To edit an existing user profile portlet:
1. Navigate to the portlet you want to edit.
2. Click the portlet name.
3. In the Portlet Editor, on the Profile Pages page, click Edit.
