Creating a Snapshot Query
To create a snapshot query object and content snapshot portlet to display the results in users' My Pages or in communities, you must perform the following steps:
On the Construct Snapshot Query page, create a search query. You can limit your search by language, object types, folders, and text.
On the Format Snapshot Query Result page, specify the format for your search results. For example you can change the order in which results are displayed, limit the items returned, specify a style in which the content snapshot portlet will be displayed, and e-mail results to users.
On the Preview Snapshot Query Result page, preview your results before you save your format and query settings.
Optionally, on the Snapshot Portlet List page, create a snapshot portlet. If you do not create a snapshot portlet, one will be created automatically when you create this snapshot query.
Optionally, you can modify properties and names settings for the search.
Save the snapshot query by clicking Finish. If you have not created a snapshot portlet on the Snapshopt Portlet List page, a snapshot portlet will be created for you when you create this snapshot query.
You can build an advanced property query to further refine your search results:
To search for text in the name or description of an object, type the text you want to search for in the Basic Fields Search text box. You can use the text search rules.
To search for property values, click +Add Statement.
In the Name drop-down list, select the searchable property for which you want to filter the values.
In the Contains drop-down list, select the operator to apply to this condition. This list will vary depending on the property selected:
For any text property, you can search for a value that contains your search string (by selecting Contains), or you can search for properties that are blank (by selecting Contains No Value).
For any date property, you can search for a value that comes after, comes before, is, or is not the date you enter in the text box.
For any number property, you can search for a value that is greater than, is less than, is, is not, is greater than or equal to, or is less than or equal to the number you enter in the text box.
In the text box, enter the value the property
must have, or not have, depending on which operator you selected.
Note: If you are searching for a text property, you can
use the text search rules.
To add additional groups of search criteria to the query:
Click Add Grouping.
Select a grouping.
Select the search operator.
The AND and OR operators do not apply to the text within any one
statement or within the Basic Fields
Search text box. The operators apply to the connections between
the statements. For example, if you select OR for the operator, type john doe
in Basic Fields Search, and create a statement Author
Contains john doe, it runs the following search query:
(name contains (john AND doe)) OR (description contains (john AND
doe)) OR (content contains (john AND doe)) OR (author contains (john AND
doe)
Add statements.
To remove a group click
Remove Grouping.
