Use this page to explore all the documents in the portal. The Knowledge Directory is similar to a Windows Explorer file system tree in that documents are organized in folders and subfolders.
A folder can contain documents from various sources, as well as links to people, portlets, and communities. If your administrator has given you permission, you might also be allowed to add documents to the Knowledge Directory, or submit yourself as an expert on a particular topic.
If the folder includes a description, it appears as a tooltip. To view the description, place your mouse over the folder name.
To view a document in a folder or subfolder, click the folder or subfolder, navigate to the document you want to open, and click its name.
To view a range of documents, type a starting
number in the View Items box,
an ending number in the To box,
and click .
To move quickly to a folder that you visited on your way to the current folder, click the folder’s name in the list of folders beneath the banner at the top of the screen.
To move up one level in the folder tree, on the
right of the Directory page, click Up.
To edit a folder or subfolder, click Edit. To learn more,
To view the properties of a document, click the Properties link under the document description.
To tell other portal users about a document, click
to the right of the document. A dialog box opens containing
a URL. Copy and paste the URL into an e-mail message and send the message
to other users.
Note: If those users do not have permission to view the document,
they will receive an error message when they click the URL you have sent
them.
The following options are only available to you if you have the appropriate permissions. Contact your portal administrator if you need to perform any of these actions but do not have the option to do so:
